Why the Electoral College is Obsolete

During Unit 2, for the Humanities Art of Rhetoric course we took a focus on Op-Ed posts. Throughout the unit we were guided by the question: How do we raise our voices to challenge? We met with local Democratic- Socialist Ugo Okere to discuss his run for alderman of Chicago's 40th ward in 2018 against the incumbent Patrick O'Connor. We also explored the advocacy for students by Troy LaRaviere, a former Chicago Public Schools Principal, who was fired for making a political endorsement on his own behalf. To set up our Action Project, we read both an Op-Ed published last year by the Chicago Tribune trying to explain on "Why a Teacher Strike is Bad for Chicago" then followed up with an article published by Laurel Procter explaining how the lack funding from CPS for school nurses and mental health resources is a bigger disruption to learning in Chicago than a strike. In light of the 2020 presidential election, I decided to write my own Op-Ed on why the Electoral College is Obsolete.
